Committees
Several committees are hard at work in our community to keep it the best it can be! These committees, and the residents who support them, play important roles in maintaining the value and quality of our neighborhood. To learn more about the work of these committees, or to volunteer yourself (the time commitment is minimal), please write to board@scofieldridge.org for more information.

The Maintenance & Safety Committee would like to encourage homeowners to take advantage of our on-going projects and services:
- Operation I.D. is a program supported by police departments and the National Sheriff’s Association. The Committee offers engraving pens and inventory worksheets. We encourage you to mark your valuables with a number unique to you, record these items and perhaps photo them. When you return the engraving pen we will give you a window decal that states your valuables have been etched for easy identification. Law enforcement believes this is a strong deterrent to burglars.
- The Committee offers a limited recycling program. We collect compact fluorescent light bulbs and household batteries and dispose of them via a hazardous waste center. Bring your recyclables to any neighborhood social event or email our committee to arrange for a pickup.
- We collect unwanted cell phones and mail them to Cell Phones for Soldiers (CellPhonesForSoldiers.com). This is an organization that provides prepaid calling cards to active military personnel in exchange for the recycled phones.
- The Committee also collects used books and delivers them to Parmer Woods Retirement Center. History and romance novels are greatly coveted. Parmer Woods Retirement Center generously allows us to use their facility to hold our neighborhood meetings and we like to give a little back for their residents.
- We also try to provide programs the homeowners are interested in. This past summer we sponsored a program on water conservation and a great program on landscaping and xeriscaping. Please send any ideas you may have for speakers to us and we will see what we can make happen.
